They fell short of their goal of standing alone at the season’s final whistle, but for the second consecutive season, the Green Bay Blizzard Football operation, as a whole, has been crowned king of the Indoor Football League.
The 2024 IFL team awards were announced this afternoon, and the Blizzard, once again, has taken home the “Franchise of the Year” hardware. It is a fitting acknowledgement for a team that posted a franchise best 13-3 regular season record, securing the Eastern Conference’s top seed, though the award extends far beyond the field of play. Attendance, sales, public relations and marketing, community involvement, League participation, and efforts to improve the overall IFL experience all are taken into consideration when determining the “Franchise of the Year.”
It is the highest team honor handed out at the IFL’s annual banquet, but the Blizzard wasn’t one-and-done. In addition to the “Franchise of the Year,” the Blizzard was named “Best Community Relations” franchise, awarded to the team that best exemplifies service and dedication to their surrounding community. Like the aforementioned, the Blizzard won this award in 2023, as well.
The pair of team awards accompanies two individual IFL accolades handed out earlier this month. The Blizzard’s Corey Roberson was named the IFL’s “2024 Head Coach of the Year,” and the team’s Ravarius Rivers earned the “2024 Defensive Player of the Year” distinction.
