“We are excited to unveil the first bobblehead of Green Bay Phoenix basketball coach Doug Gottlieb,” said co-founder and CEO of National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum Phil Sklar. “Coach Gottlieb has made his mark as a player, sports analyst, and national radio personality. We wish him well on the next chapter of his journey leading the Phoenix. If you’re a Green Bay hoops fan, or a fan of ‘The Doug Gottlieb Show,’ this bobblehead is a must-have for your collection.”
“The Doug Gottlieb Show” debuted on The Score on Monday, October 28th, and is a fast-paced program that highlights Doug’s unique take on the latest sports headlines, featuring listener interaction and interviews with some of the biggest names in the industry.
Gottlieb, who joined the Phoenix as head coach on May 14, 2024, comes from a strong basketball background. His father, Bob Gottlieb, was once the head coach for the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men’s basketball team. Doug’s college playing career began at Notre Dame, where he led the team in assists, steals, and minutes as a freshman. He later transferred to Oklahoma State, where he twice led the nation in assists and helped the Cowboys make three NCAA Tournament appearances, setting program records and ranking 11th in NCAA history for career assists with 947.
After a brief professional playing career with the Oklahoma Storm, during which he led the USBL in assists, Gottlieb transitioned to broadcasting in 2002. His media journey began as a co-host on an Oklahoma City radio show, eventually leading him to ESPN, where he called college basketball games and hosted “GameNight” on ESPN Radio. Over the years, he contributed to SportsCenter, ESPNU, and other ESPN programs. “The Doug Gottlieb Show” launched on CBS before moving to Fox Sports in 2017.
