Taylor Swift has donated $100,000 to the family of Elizabeth “Lisa” Lopez-Galvan, a victim tragically lost in a shooting incident during the celebratory Super Bowl parade for the Kansas City Chiefs.
Swift made her contributions, split into two donations of $50,000 each, directly to the GoFundMe campaign dedicated to Lopez-Galvan’s memory. Per Bleacher Report, her message accompanying the donations read: “Sending my deepest sympathies and condolences in the wake of your devastating loss. With love, Taylor Swift.”
The incident at the parade erupted near its conclusion in downtown Kansas City, leaving the community in shock and mourning, especially for the loss of Lopez-Galvan, who was remembered by her family as an extraordinary individual.
“We are heartbroken with the loss of our loved one, Elizabeth ‘Lisa’ Lopez-Galvan, who was an amazing mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend to so many,” a member of the Lopez-Galvan family said in a statement per CNN’s Alaa Elassar. “Lisa leaves behind her husband of 22 years, Mike, and two children, Marc, and Adriana. We ask to please keep our family in your prayers as we grieve the loss of Lisa’s death while also supporting our other loved ones who were impacted in this senseless act.“
The incident affected 23 individuals total, with Lopez-Galvan being the fatality. According to Kansas City Fire Chief Ross Grundyson, eight of the victims were critically injured and seven faced serious conditions.
Per Bleacher Report, the shooting led to the detention of three suspects, with two juveniles still in custody pending charges and one adult who was released from custody. The Kansas City Police, led by Chief Stacey Graves, and the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office are navigating the case, with the community closely watching for developments.
