GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) – The Packers’ 25th overall selection Jordan Morgan responded to his doubters ahead of Day 1 of rookie minicamp, stating his belief he can be an NFL offensive tackle.
His ability to play the position he manned throughout college at Arizona has been called into question due to his arm length, which measured in at just 32 and 7/8 inches, which is below average for a tackle.
“I just didn’t care about arm length,” Morgan said. “I didn’t think it was a big deal coming into college. They put me at left tackle and thought I’d be a great left tackle. Sure enough, I was. I get that a lot, the short arms thing. Obviously you haven’t watched film. I use it pretty well, I move people off the ball. It doesn’t bother me. I’ll just prove everybody wrong.”
Today also marks one year since Jordan Love signed his contract extension, meaning the organization is now eligible to sign him to another extension, which is widely expected to be a expensive long-term deal. Morgan hopes to protect his blind side.
“Yesterday when I came in here, he dapped me up, said what’s up to me.” Morgan said. “When I looked at him, I kind of froze like, that’s Jordan Love. But after that it felt really cool. He welcomed me and I felt welcomed for sure. Everyone loves him here and I wanna be that one tackle to protect him.”
Morgan and the rest of the Packers rookies expressed gratitude for joining the historic organization and are looking forward to playing at Lambeau Field.
